The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Maryvale Prep with a sharp 68-47 victory. The victory was a breath of fresh air for BASIS Phoenix as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
BASIS Phoenix was led to victory by Arjun Sudalaimuthu and Atharsh Ramkumar. Sudalaimuthu scored nine points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Ramkumar scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Sudalaimuthu posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Uzayr Ansari, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
BASIS Phoenix's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Maryvale Prep, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. BASIS Phoenix will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phoenix Christian will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak. As for Maryvale Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Pumas at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sequoia Pathway Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
