The Florence Eagles entered their tilt with the Brookhaven Panthers with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Florence came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 46-38 on Friday. Given Florence's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Panthers are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brookhaven lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madison Benson, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Benson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kema Roberts, who scored 14 points.
Florence pushed their record up to 21-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Brookhaven, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
