Downriver recap September 17, 2013
Truman's Joe Dudley recorded the longest rushing play in Downriver this season in his game against Anderson last week. Dudley ran for 85 yards on the play and finished with 88 on the day as his team topped the Titans.
Trenton scaled the state rankings by moving to 319 from 357 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Trojans were able to make move up by besting Kennedy 47-20.
Leon Contreras was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 140 yards on 6 carries as Truman bested Carlson.
Sowards was the best wideout in Downriver this week as the Bears topped the Marauders. Sowards tallied 4 receptions for 85 yards.
Niko France put up the best numbers in passing as Woodhaven fell to Allen Park. He finished with 2 completions for 72 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Roosevelt's Donovan Stewart and Sowards have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Stewart has thrown for 308 yards this season, while Sowards has 12 catches for 292 yards. Eric Stiegel's team's Devonte McGregor leads the league in rushing yards with 298.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Ron Adams' team takes on the Jaguars. At the moment, the Bears are in second, while Allen Park is in fifth.
The Cougars took down Anderson 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Contreras during the win.
