After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lawrence County, the Giles County Bobcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Marshall County with a 62-56 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Marshall County still got an impressive performance from Jabrae Howard, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamahl Gentry, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Giles County's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Marshall County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Giles County will take on Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Giles County is ranked 123rd). As for Marshall County, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
