Basketball Recap: Clear Lake Takes a Loss

Clear Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Clear Creek Wildcats 70-42. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Wildcats are ranked 62nd).

Clear Lake's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Marley Auttonberry, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and six rebounds, and Carmen Evans, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Auttonberry has posted since back in November of 2024.

Clear Lake now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Clear Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Clear Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 78-49 defeat against Clear Brook on the 7th. As for Clear Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-17 victory against Brazoswood on the 7th.
