Baseball Recap: Otis Takes a Loss

Otis lost to Haxtun on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ftng Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emiliano Varela was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Mitchell Stivers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Gavin Price was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Otis' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Haxtun, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Otis has already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Peetz on the 27th. As for Haxtun, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-4 victory against Prairie on the 26th.
