Southwestern has gone 8-1 against Clarksville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. Southwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Southwestern took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They skirted past Jac-Cen-Del 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nataley Morrison was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paisley Hendrix, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southwestern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Clarksville and Salem, and Salem kept the tradition alive. The Generals lost 10-4 to the Lions on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Generals have suffered since April 20, 2024.
Kylie Raggard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Senior, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Southwestern's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Clarksville, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Southwestern was able to grind out a solid win over Clarksville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
