It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Daniel Lions had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-20 victory over the Cyclones. The win was just business as usual for Daniel, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Daniel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kari Bennett, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Chapman, who threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Daniel's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Tristyn Carrington was the leader with two sacks.
Despite the loss, Chester still got an impressive performance from Elijah Coleman, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Coleman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Daniel's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.8 points. As for Chester, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Daniel's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Belton-Honea Path is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Chester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
