The Agua Dulce Longhorns will venture away from home to face off against the La Villa Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Agua Dulce against Ben Bolt as the squad secured a 50-22 victory. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won seven games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Agua Dulce's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aiden Martinez, who rushed for 194 yards and two scores while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and Lane Ranly, who threw for 192 yards and four TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Ranly has posted since back in October of 2024.
Agua Dulce didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lathan Ranly and Kayden King.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely La Villa's strategy against Ben Bolt back in October. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cardinals blew the Badgers out of the water with a 62-6 final score. With the Cardinals ahead 41-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Agua Dulce better keep an eye on Isaiah Felix. He was instrumental in La Villa's win, rushing for 76 yards on only nine carries, while also throwing for 73 yards and one touchdown. They also got a significant boost from Frankie-Raye Gonzales, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
La Villa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 330 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to La Villa's defense and their 12 sacks. It was a group effort, with five picking up two apiece. Jose Cervantes also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Sean Seanz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Agua Dulce's record now sits at 7-2. As for La Villa, their record is now 7-1.
Agua Dulce ended up a good deal behind La Villa in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, losing 38-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Felix, who rushed for 190 yards and four scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Now that the Longhorns know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
