Providence has gone a perfect 9-0 against Lanesville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Providence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Providence's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Bedford North Lawrence hitters got past them. The Pioneers took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stars on Thursday. The Pioneers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Blake Straub was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Straub was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Straub wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kalen Sipes, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lanesville didn't have quite enough to beat Borden on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Lanesville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-10. As for Providence, their record now sits at 12-6.

Everything went Providence's way against Lanesville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Providence made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
