The Southwest Roughriders pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Medicine Valley. Southwest was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Medicine Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Blume, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Blume's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Houston Billeter, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Southwest has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Medicine Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Southwest will be playing in front of their home fans against Dundy County-Stratton on Tuesday. As for Medicine Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday.
