Baseball Game Preview: Redmond Mustangs vs. Issaquah Eagles

Redmond hasn't had much luck against Issaquah recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Redmond will venture away from home to challenge Issaquah at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Redmond got the win against Liberty by a conclusive 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted against the Patriots since March 31, 2017.

The team relied heavily on Jay Heath, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Redmond is 2-1 when Heath posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Ciuca, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Heath wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Redmond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Issaquah, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Battle Ground on Saturday.

Tanner Scharnhorst looked comfortable as he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Issaquah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Carvalho, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Carvalho also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

The win got Issaquah back to even at 4-4. As for Redmond, their record now sits at 3-5.

Redmond might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Issaquah when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Redmond avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
