Livingston is 1-9 against Pacheco since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wolves will square off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Livingston was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Johansen on Monday. The Wolves' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Wolves have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Annalee Aguilar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Livingston got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Avila, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most runs Avila has posted since back in March. Isabella Zazueta also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Livingston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johansen only posted an OBP of .235.
Meanwhile, Pacheco got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. Everything went their way against Grace Davis as they made off with a 29-14 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Isabella Chavez was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Landeros, who went 4-for-7 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Livingston's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pacheco, they moved to 5-20 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Pacheco's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Livingston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Pacheco, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Livingston's hitters?
Everything went Livingston's way against Pacheco in their previous matchup on April 2nd, as Livingston made off with an 18-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
