The Calvert Senecas will head out to square off against the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvert's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Lakota's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Calvert easily dispatched Old Fort on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Senecas fell just short of Gibsonburg by a score of 6-4 on Monday. The loss was the Senecas' first of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lakota ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Van Buren. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Sophia Bomer made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Moon, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Jerzee Crawford was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Lakota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Lakota now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Calvert, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-1.
Calvert came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakota in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senecas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
