The New Deal Lions waltzed into Friday's matchup with five straight wins but they left with six. They had just enough and edged Post out 29-26. That result was just more of the same for these two, as New Deal also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
New Deal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Slade Martin, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Martin has been hot recently, having posted six or more solo tackles the last six times he's played. Nathan Brown was another key contributor, picking up 70 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
New Deal's win was their third straight at home , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points per game. As for Post, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
New Deal will square off against West Texas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Post does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
