The Covenant Christian Cougars came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 76-63 win over Caddo Mills. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Covenant Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Boughton out in front who scored 28 points. The game was Boughton's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Turner, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals.
Covenant Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Caddo Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Covenant Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Gainesville at 6:25 p.m. on December 9th. Gainesville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Covenant Christian likes a good challenge. As for Caddo Mills, they will take on Blue Ridge at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday.
