East is 0-10 against Green since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The East Tartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. East comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
East suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Notre Dame on the road and fell 60-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Green were a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They took a serious blow against Notre Dame, falling 51-16. While losing is never fun, Green can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Notre Dame is ranked 137th).
Despite the defeat, Green saw an underclassman step up: Abbie Knapp scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 93.8% of Green's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Green struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
East bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.4 points per game. As for Green, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
East took a serious blow against Green in their previous meeting on January 4th, falling 61-16. Will East have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
