The Pomona Red Devils have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 60-47 win over Claremont on Tuesday.
Pomona got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dario Shields out in front who scored 24 points. Joe Steele was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Despite the defeat, Claremont saw an underclassman step up: Yonael (Yona) Banko scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Wang, who scored nine points.
Pomona's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Claremont, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Pomona will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Western Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Western Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.4 points per game. Claremont won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sage Ridge at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th. Sage Ridge is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
