You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Valley Vikings's strategy against the Bernalillo Spartans on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Valley blew Bernalillo out of the water with a 72-39 final score. Given Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Bernalillo is ranked 56th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tyler Kozlowski, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Diego Miscles-Rivera, who scored ten points.
Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Bernalillo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
Valley will head out on the road to take on Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Bernalillo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hope Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hope Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Bernalillo surely won't give up without a fight.
