The West Carteret Patriots lost to the Swansboro Pirates back in February of 2023, but the West Carteret Patriots didn't allow the Swansboro Pirates the same satisfaction on Friday. West Carteret pulled ahead with a 38-37 photo finish over Swansboro. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Carteret.
West Carteret got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Holmes out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Holmes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Skyler Setzer, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Kendall Hackworth and Brooke Brady certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hackworth scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Brady dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hackworth has scored all season.
West Carteret now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Swansboro, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
West Carteret will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Richlands at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Richlands is ranked 243rd, while West Carteret is ranked 259th). As for Swansboro, they will be playing at home against Dixon at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixon is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
