Basketball Recap: Martinsville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Gavin Leloup and Adam Parcel

If Martinsville was riding high fresh off their 69-45 takedown of Chrisman last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Martinsville Bluestreaks lost 68-42 to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bluestreaks have suffered since February 12th.

Adam Parcel and Gavin Leloup certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Parcel went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Leloup posted eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Leloup a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Griffin, who had seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Martinsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Martinsville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] the next time they take the court. Martinsville will head out to face Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, while Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
