Basketball Recap: Janiya Richburg Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Conway

It was a proper cat-fight when Loris faced off against Conway on Monday. The Loris Lions took down the Conway Tigers 37-18. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-31 last Monday.

Loris got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Janiya Richburg out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Richburg has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played. Mari'Asia Moody was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Loris smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Conway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ahchiya Hill, who posted four points in addition to ten boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Hemingway, who had eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Loris has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Conway, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Loris didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-42 loss against Carolina Forest on the 17th. As for Conway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-32 defeat against Wando on the 20th.
