Softball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

While Woodrow Wilson put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Cabrillo. The Bruins blew past the Jaguars 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Leila Uribe was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Woodrow Wilson got a massive performance out of Sacha Zalamea, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Zalamea has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Yates, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Woodrow Wilson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Woodrow Wilson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cabrillo, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Woodrow Wilson and Cabrillo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bruins see the field they'll take on Long Beach Poly at 3:15 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Cabrillo, their break will end when they face Millikan at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
