While it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, the Marshall Owls were not quite the Linn Wildcats's equal in the second half on Saturday. Marshall was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Wildcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Marshall lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brody Kueker, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Kueker hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Stephen Caviness was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Linn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Seth Wolfe, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wolfe has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Noah Hall, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Linn, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Marshall's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Missouri (Oak Grove is ranked 373rd, while the Owls are ranked 379th). As for Linn, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.
