Brailyn Hernandez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.
In other batting news, Briggs let Cameron Griffith and Jaxon Mitskevich run wild. Griffith got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Mitskevich went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Briggs is undefeated when Mitskevich posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Marcus Rodgers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Columbus Torah Academy got the win against Foxfire two weeks ago by a conclusive 18-3.
Like Briggs, Columbus Torah Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Josh Greff. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Greff was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Avraham Import and Sam Frank dominated on the mound. Import went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Frank got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Boaz Harow, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Briggs' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus Torah Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
