There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Marietta's junior Harrison Bailey, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Welcome
Coffee not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Taravella in every quarter. Coffee picked up a decisive 'W' against Taravella, finishing up at 54 - 6. Coffee found its leader in an underclassman: A. j. Wilkerson tossed the ball for 243 yards and three TDs, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. The win also thrust Coffee into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Rome got a 35 - 6 win over Kell last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jamious Griffin. Griffin ran for 236 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Griffin among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Marietta (12th in the power rankings) and Grayson (3rd). Victory was within reach, but Marietta ultimately lost 38 - 31 to Grayson. The quarterback felt the defeat most of all -- literally. After eight sacks, he is probably hoping to get a little more protection in the future.
Movin on Up
Mary Persons has been an offensive powerhouse for four straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. Everything went its way against Lovett as it secured a 58 - 21 win. Mary Persons had two big standouts, as senior Quen Wilson found the end zone on three runs and one reception, while senior J.t. Hartage threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by eight, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
