The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Don Bosco with a 34-29 win. 34 seems to be a good number for Winfield-Mt. Union as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Jake Edwards was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Carter Loyd, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Don Bosco lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaiden Knaack. Despite the final result, he rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Tenold, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Winfield-Mt. Union's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Don Bosco, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Winfield-Mt. Union will face off against Bedford at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Bedford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Winfield-Mt. Union likes a good challenge. Don Bosco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
