The Laney Buccaneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 77-45 win over West Brunswick on the road. Given Laney's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Trojans are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hezron Driver, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Driver continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shark Baynard, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Laney's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for West Brunswick, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12.
Laney will take on the Screaming Eagle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Brunswick, they will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
