The Wellston Golden Rockets won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. Their rough 71-48 loss to Miller might stick with them for a while. Wellston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Miller apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Leading Miller to victory were Bryce Dorsey and Logan Doughty. Dorsey dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Doughty scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Austin Perry, who scored 11 points.
Wellston has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Miller, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellston will take on Athens at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Athens is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Miller, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wellington School at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Wellington School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday.
