On Tuesday, the Owasso Rams faced the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Owasso took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Owasso just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Edmond Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Hjelmstad led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Hjelmstad is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Janiyah Williams was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Owasso's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Edmond Memorial, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owasso will take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Putnam City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Rams are ranked 14th). As for Edmond Memorial, they will be playing at home against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
