Basketball Recap: Central Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jonathan Cook and Rocky Steidinger

Central Christian lost against Arlington Christian back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Central Christian Crusaders took a hard 67-49 fall against Arlington Christian. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Arlington Christian are ranked 171st).

Despite the defeat, Central Christian had strong showings from Rocky Steidinger, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards, and Jonathan Cook, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Steidinger has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last 17 times he's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arlington Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chezi Essel, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Essel is now averaging an impressive 8.5 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylon Adams, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 19 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Central Christian and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Arlington Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Central Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-35 victory against Lafayette Christian on the 5th. As for Arlington Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-55 win against Trinity Christian on the 4th.
