The Osborne Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past St. John's/Tipton Catholic 77-74. The victory was nothing new for Osborne as they're now sitting on six straight.
St. John's/Tipton Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Koevin Schroeder, who scored 14 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schroeder has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Winkler, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, St. John's/Tipton Catholic were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Osborne's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osborne won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sylvan-Lucas on January 20th. Sylvan-Lucas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Osborne is ranked 94th). As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bennington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bennington and St. John's/Tipton Catholic are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
