Basketball Recap: Bishop Manogue Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with North Valleys

On Monday, Bishop Manogue faced North Valleys in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bishop Manogue Miners fell 47-35 to the North Valleys Panthers. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2017.

Bishop Manogue lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josie Williamson, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Williamson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hall, who posted six points.

Ivy Williams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Valleys, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. Annika Hester was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

Bishop Manogue has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for North Valleys, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

As for North Valleys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Truckee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
