Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mingus

Mingus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Mohave Thunderbirds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-3 last Tuesday.

Zaiden Ballesteros spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Mingus got a massive performance out of Carter Wacker, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Wacker has become a key player for the Marauders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-13-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Silas Scott, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Mingus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mingus' victory bumped their record up to 7-13-1. As for Mohave, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mingus will venture away from home to face off against Coconino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Marauders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mohave, they will head out to challenge Poston Butte at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.61 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
