The loss was a bit of a surprise, as De La Salle North Catholic came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 76th in Oregon, while Madison is ranked 410th in California).
Madison was led to victory by Caleb Gleason and Eli Stevens. Gleason scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Stevens scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stevens has scored at least 25% of Madison's points. Another player making a difference was Zagar Aiken, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
De La Salle North Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Madison, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
