Baseball Recap: Champion Extends Winning Streak to Three

Champion waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Liberty Leopards get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Dylan Howell, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Champion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Zack Morris was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Champion pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Champion will venture away from home to face off against McKinley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty, they will welcome Newton Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
