The Claremont Wolfpack's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Compton Tarbabes at 1:00 p.m. on January 15th. Claremont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Claremont suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2023 on Saturday. They were outmatched by California on the road and fell 72-45. While losing is never fun, Claremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1097th, while California is ranked 497th).
Despite their defeat, Claremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Douglass Johnson III, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson III has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Silas Mascarin, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Compton's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Morningside 64-36 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Compton has posted since December 2, 2023.
Claremont bumped their record down to 5-16 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Compton, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.
