Horizon is 0-4 against Windermere since February of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Horizon Hawks are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge the Windermere Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Horizon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They skirted past Archbishop Chapelle 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Horizon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Hernandez hit this season. Lila Hernandez was another, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Windermere, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Seminole on Friday as Windermere made off with a 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their one-run performance the game before.
Sabrina Boyer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Shaik, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Windermere is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Horizon's record is now 6-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Horizon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Windermere struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Horizon might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Windermere in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Horizon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
