Academy of American Studies had won four straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 9-1 to make it five. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Flushing Red Devils. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Flushing, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Flushing's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeffrey Mentle Monico, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base.

Coming up, Academy of American Studies will head out on the road to challenge St. John's Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flushing, they will face off against Newcomers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
