Having just played yesterday, the North Eugene Highlanders will jump right back in to play the North Medford Black Tornado at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Eugene is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Medford in Oregon (North Eugene is ranked fourth, while North Medford is ranked 99th).
North Eugene unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 75-53 walloping at the hands of South Medford.
North Eugene's loss came about despite a quality game from Caiden Gould, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Gould also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Spencer, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Eugene were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, North Medford took their match at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 78-45 victory over Reynolds. That 78-45 margin sets a new team best for North Medford this season.
North Eugene's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for North Medford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Everything went North Eugene's way against North Medford when the teams last played on December 8th as North Eugene made off with a 73-50 win. Will North Eugene repeat their success, or does North Medford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
