The Alleghany Trojans fell victim to the Mount Airy Granite Bears''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 53-0 loss at the hands of the Granite Bears. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alleghany in their matchups with Mount Airy: they've now lost four in a row.
Mack LeMasters threw for 37 yards on a of four attempts. Zander Russell was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards.
Mount Airy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taeshon Martin, who rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Walker Stroup was another key contributor, picking up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Alleghany to a paltry 72 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Mount Airy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was DJ Joyce and his two sacks.
Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mount Airy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Alleghany will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Island Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Airy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Union Academy at 7:00 p.m. Union Academy is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
