The Mineral Ridge Rams came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Columbiana with a 45-39 win. The score was all tied up 15-15 at the break, but Mineral Ridge was the better team in the second half.
Ava Hulett was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Gilbert, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Mineral Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Columbiana, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome McDonald at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. McDonald is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Columbiana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowellville at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Lowellville is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
