The Paxton Bobcats entered their tilt with the Geneva County Bulldogs with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Paxton secured a 34-29 W over Geneva County on Friday. Given Paxton's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 134th in Florida, while Geneva County is ranked 322nd in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Paxton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hydie Varnum, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Marley McClelland, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Paxton pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Geneva County, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paxton will take on Freeport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Freeport focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Thursday. As for Geneva County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Geneva at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
