The Grand Junction Tigers won the last time they faced the Battle Mountain Huskies, and things went their way on Saturday too. Grand Junction took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-35 victory over Battle Mountain. Given Grand Junction's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Battle Mountain is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Grand Junction to victory were Will Applegate and Brady Page. Applegate scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, while Page scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Andrew Henderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Grand Junction has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Battle Mountain, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Junction will take on Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Battle Mountain, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
