The Laughlin Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 53-43 victory over GV Christian. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Laughlin as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Laughlin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Valeria Qunitero, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Qunitero hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Amora Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Laughlin's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for GV Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laughlin will square off against Awaken Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. GV Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Mead Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
