Sundown is 10-0 against the Bulldogs since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Sundown Roughnecks will head out on the road to square off against the Tahoka Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. Sundown will be strutting in after a victory while the Bulldogs will be coming in after a defeat.
Sundown put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Seagraves 82-31 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-10.
Sundown can attribute much of their success to Aria Hogan, who scored 18 points along with five steals and three blocks, and Allie McCormick, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. Hogan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Hannah Holdman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Tahoka unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to New Home on the road by a decisive 37-23 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tahoka in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now lost nine in a row.
Sundown's win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Tahoka, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-11.
Sundown skirted past the Bulldogs 37-35 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sundown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
