The Bountiful Redhawks will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Bear River Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful will be strutting in after a win while Bear River will be coming in after a loss.
Bountiful is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Cyprus, who was ranked 18th at the time (Bountiful was ranked 17th). The Redhawks had just enough and edged out the Pirates 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Redhawks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.
Carpenter Dylan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Dylan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bountiful let McKinley Duryea and Peyton Orchard run wild. Duryea went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Orchard went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Duryea has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Rasmussen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only managed eight.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bear River's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 7-1 to Davis.
Bear River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alice Roche, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Allie Aoki also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Bear River's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Bountiful, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bountiful hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bountiful skirted past Bear River 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Redhawks repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
