Baseball Recap: Troup Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Troup had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the White Oak Roughnecks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Roughnecks since May 6, 2017.

Carson Davenport made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Davenport was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Davenport wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter G, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Troup pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for White Oak, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-6-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troup will welcome Sabine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for White Oak, they will host Tatum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
