The Golden Demons will head out on the road to take on the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Golden barely beat Longmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Demons were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Trojans on Saturday. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Taden Svendsen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Golden got a big performance out of Andrew Romero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Romero's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Paulson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Golden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, D'Evelyn made easy work of Conifer on Saturday and carried off a 14-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
D'Evelyn let Marshall Pharris and Leo Vigil run wild. Pharris went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Vigil went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Pharris a new career-high. Jay Aurich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Golden's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for D'Evelyn, their record is now 6-11.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Golden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like D'Evelyn struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
