The Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals lost against the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet fell just short of Hume-Fogg by a score of 34-32. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hume-Fogg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Nwoye led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Nwoye hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Rucker, who scored six points along with three blocks and two steals.
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Hume-Fogg, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet will face off against Lawson at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hume-Fogg, they will head out on the road to challenge Valor College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Valor College Prep is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
